Writer Region Plugin - Provides the ability to work with formatted text inside the Worksheet. - Messages
Thank you Jean Giraud for the indications of solving the second degree polynomial equation. But the issue that bothers me is that of variable assignment: "the first solution" & "the second solution". So how do this assignment in SMath?
All the best.
Thank you, Davide.
Relative to post # 81. I'm sorry Jean Giraud, but I did not find the functions "coeffs" and "maple" defined in the "Insert - Function" menu. I have installed SMath Studio 0.98.6484 portable version. I searched for updates that do not exist. I'm waiting for explanations, or guidelines for defining these functions in user mode.
Regards

Many functions/regions are available through third-party plugins, not provided within the installer; these are available in the extensions manager, under Tools > Plugins... > [Local Storage > Online Gallery]
Usually you can find documentation about them in this section of the forum (Extensions) or in the interactive book of Martin Kraska (again in the extensions manager, interactive books section); function maple is from the maple plugin

1. Freeware Smath is not the distribution of $ 4000 Maple. Type the example as is.
2. If 0.98.6484 portable accesses or NOT Maple ? Martin will answer on that
Jean
I thank you both for all the valuable information. I downloaded all the plugins, examples and user manuals that I was interested in. I hope that based on these, the unknowns about SMath will be fewer and fewer.
All the best.
- Fixed cloning issue when math is inside the region;
- Fixed indent local default style not readable;
- Fixed initial path for files in hyperlink dialog;
- Fixed mouse flickering after closing objects' dialogs;
- refactoring;

- Math objects directly editable [CTRL+SHIFT+M or double-click to enter, CTRL+SHIFT+M or click outside to exit] (no intellisense, no F8 renaming, no special characters mode). Math plain input dialog removed;
- Quotation marks shortcuts [CTRL+SHIFT+Q , CTRL+SHIFT+A] (marks customizabile in the pluging options dialog);
- Introduced keyboard sequences [f.e. .+.+.+SPACE it is convertd into ELLIPSIS+SPACE, SPACE+-+SPACE into the en dash, SPACE+-+-+SPACE into the em dash]. Sequences are time-related so you can keep the text just typing characters "slow enough";
- Added paragraphs' line separators (---+SHIFT+ENTER, ***+SHIFT+ENTER, ___+SHIFT+ENTER, ===+SHIFT+ENTER);
- Added en dash shortcut (CTRL+-);
- Added em dash shortcut (CTRL+SHIFT+-);
- Serialization/Deserialization improvements;
- refactoring;
CTRL+SHIFT+Q Appears to be plain text. Just for documentation purposes?
Introduced keyboard sequences. Thank you
Added paragraphs' line separators (---+SHIFT+ENTER, ***+SHIFT+ENTER, ___+SHIFT+ENTER, ===+SHIFT+ENTER) Thank you. I can see this being a useful documentation feature
Added en dash shortcut (CTRL+-) Thank you, can be used for bullet points
Added em dash shortcut (CTRL+SHIFT+-)Thank you, can be used for bullet points
Suggestions:
Is there a way to add or implement more "field" items? I'd like to see page number, page count, and even user defined. At the moment, I am using keywords to input a project number
Add astrix dash shortcut (CTRL+*)
Actual bullet points or numbering.
Amazing work as always!
WroteCTRL+SHIFT+M If intelisense = carrying info from the sheet
Yes, intellisense is another name for dynamic assistance (the drop down menu with hints that appears when you type something); currently is unavailable because internal challenges in the SMath code between regions translatable and regions evaluable (ideally this region should be both, but as for now this is not possible).

Yes it is plain text.

I'll see what I can do. Please elaborate, what do you mean with "user-defined"?
WroteAdd astrix dash shortcut (CTRL+*)

WroteActual bullet points or numbering.
Lists are one of my 2 top priorities for this region, they will come as soon as I can define a consistent way to implement them.
WroteI'd like to see page number, page count,
If you mean auto-paging ?
I would not spare time on that ... Explain:
1. That was possible in Mathcad, used by NONE out of ~ 125000 post !!!
2. Smath like Mathcad, for unknown reason(s) may pitch some math region
in the blue. That, for sure, won't be compatible with auto-paging.
page n/N is by default from page setup.

Jean,
The page and page count are on the page setup. I would like to bring these "fields" into the Writer region "field". Then I can use it in my template
Davide,
User defined fields would be an ability to add something not generally in the document or name. I will try and expand on my previous comment. I am currently using the "keywords" field (file-->properties) to input a project number. I can see the use of keywords for metadata in sorting files, so I wanted to "create" my own field for a project number
The astrix is really to give another option for bullet points (dash and emdash look alike). It would help differentiate between the dash and emdash and will allow for 3 distinct sublevels (e.g. -, *, -- ). Implementing bullet points and numbering would eliminate this request.
As always, thank all of the programmers for all the development and time put into making this product, Smath and plugins, better with every iteration!

I don't see much use for the page count in the writer region.
The key to best exploit Smath is to limit a document to the pertaining project.
Large Mathcad style collection > 100 pages several MB is not recommended.
Imagine it fails to save and you just made a backup, all lost for ever !!!
Go down to the last page, click on the scroll button [ 9/9], update the template.

WroteI don't see much use for the page count in the writer region.
Jean, just because you don't see a use for it, does not mean others would not like the feature. Ultimately, it's up to the programmer, in the case Davide, to implement.

edit: this is a more general bug of the program, issue opened as SS-3549
WroteLately I have encountered the following problem. When a previously saved file is reopened without any apparent inconvenience, some Math objects appear lost (in their place the red square). Everything seems random because other math objects in the same file and in the same wrirer region are correct. Does it happen to you too?
Never happened 6179 Win 7
You say lately, was it OK before lately ?
