I have not used SMath for several months and saw that there was a stable update to version 1.2.9018.

After the update, Smath fails to start and run. The opening dialog appears and (1) shows a status of updating plugins and then (2) shows a status of updating updating maxima plugin. At that point SMath seems to hang for a while and then closes.

Task manager does not show any SMath app or process running.

I have uninstalled (with REVO uninstaller) and re-installed twice. The first re-install was for all users and the second was for myself only. No changes.

The previous version of SMath ran fine.

Window 11 Pro 64-bit, version 23H2

Not sure how to proceed from here.

Can you try to manually rename the SMath folder in the %APPDATA% path to something different?

I do not have an %APPDATA% in the system variables. I do have an %APPDATA% path in my user variables - the value is "C:\Users\dgh\AppData\Roaming".

I searched the environment variables and there is no occurrence of SMath.

If you type %appdata% and hit enter in any explorer window you should land in the C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming folder.
Here there should be a SMath folder, rename it to something else (f.e. SMath_original) and run again the program and see if it starts properly. If doesn't works you can still revert the change by deleting the newly created SMath folder and renaming the original folder.

Now I understand what you meant. That corrected the problem.
Thank you.
