Hello,

I work mainly with ubuntu (16.04 and 18.04). Save as PDF file does not work and print with cups-PDF printer also.
To print correctly, I need to save as PNG file: many pages in a single file.

Is it possible to save in many files as : corr-1.png (page 1 A4) corr-2.png (page 2) ..... ?

Thanks a lot

I don't understand something in there:
Assume you are in a Smathh session, and you have a project in hand.
Saving as *.PNG is non-sense as it is an improved *.BMP, i.e: a huge image !
If you want to save the Smath document as *.PDF ... easy:
1. Download/install freeware CutePDF [works well for me]
2. Click on Smath "Print", select CutePDF as the virtual printer
3. Click OK ... wait the conversion is finished.
4. Given a document name, save in your master C:\PDF root directory
5. Done ... open your document from C:\PDF, double click
here is the document on screen.
That's how Jean is doing Win 7 Smath version 6179.

Sorry Philippe, can't help more.

Hello Philippe, as for the pdf I doubt we can do much since the conversion is mostly done by external libraries; we might see if there is something that works better on linux (IDK at the moment). As for the image export I remember that I've done something for myself a very long time ago, so it might be possible.

Philippe,
Are you asking to save a Smath document as *.BMP *.PNG ?
Open WinGrab, start capture F11 [that's my key code capture]
At this point you have a full screen captured,
then: select via selection tool, crop image.
then save as: *.BMP *.PNG *.TTF check what else.
Proceed over the all pages of your Smath document.
Latest IrfanView has capture facility as well,
PrintScreen, paste in Paint, select region, copy/paste in
IrfanView or WinGrab ... save as.
IrfanView will allow lot many image processing [Sharpen,
Inverse color, Rotate at in multiple directions, add text ...]

Hello Jean

I work on linux (ubuntu 16.04 and 18.4). Smathstudio works very fine on linux, except when I print with cups-pdf (pdf printer) and except when I save as a pdf file (pdf extension).

Also I save as an image file (png). I send to my students for their project an image file (A4 width and a big height).

The solution is that the pdf extension works on linux. I'm not an expert on mono and the extension seems to work only on windows.

Save in many files as corr-1.png (page 1 A4) corr-2.png (page 2) with A4 width and A4 height is another solution.

==============================
If you can't do what you want with Ubuntu, then use Smath Win 7.
It will save *.PDF same size as on Smath screen.

The other problem you mention is freaked size from Ubuntu as *.PNG.
The capture technique [IrfanView, WinGrab] captures the screen as an image,
thus does not freak size, similar to Paint except from Paint you can't
save as. My old WinGrab save as *.PNG *.JPG *.TIF *.BMP
IrfanView save as *. 20 types.
Neither Mathcad/Mathsoft would save a document as *.PNG

What I don't understand => if Ubuntu saves *.PDF as you wish,
why bother saving in other style. Whatever, the bug is Ubuntu.
Obviously Smath can't doctor the dead.

Hello

SmathStudio can't save as pdf file correctly. The file is generated with only the header and the footer of the page. A windows dll is needed.

I have not tested SmathStudio (windows) with wine.

I have saved a SmathStudio file as a tex file: the problem is the same: it doesn't work . The only solution for me is to save as an image file on Ubuntu.

It's not Smath that saves as *.PDF, rather the virtual PDF installed
My system does everything as demanded [except singing a song].
====================
Smath 6179, Win 7 1.66GHz, 10.1"
Freeware: Adobe reader, IrfanView, WinGrab + + +
IrfanView is a MUST to read documents that Windows can't.

Mach is the Smath work sheet captured WinGrab, saved *.PNG WinGrab.
WinGrab is the top best *.PNG for images that have lot colors.
It does not apply to a math document, but from other image creator.
Doublet from virtual CutePDF ... 1/1 Smath work sheet.
Maybe you have to recycle Ubuntu for Win 7 [known nothing about Wine].

Please, let us know where you stand about a working system.

The Smath file does not open ?
The native image is 4 MB, reduced color 0.7 MB.
What does Python do that previous proposals didn't ?

Hello,

I modified the script 2A4.py for windows (output file with no .png extension).

tested with python 3.7.3 on win7 and ubuntu 1804 (64 bits)
Package pillow needed

I opened correctly the file "CD Corr.sm" on win7 and ubuntu. The image file is about 157 kb. I don't know how to modify the resolution of the output. The standard outpu resolution is 72 ppi.

Windows 7 & Ubuntu 1804

width x height
749 x 1897 pixels CD Corr.png
749 x 1059 pixels CD Corr-1.png
749 x 1059 pixels CD Corr-2.png

Philippe.
