Is SMATH constantly connected to a server somewhere? - Error message indicated it is. - Messages

While running an SMATH program on my PC, the program stopped and an SMATH error dialog box came up saying connection to the server was lost. It had the SMATH logo. My computer was locked up to the degree that I had to press the power button and then press again to boot up.
I thought SMATH was totally contained on my PC. Even my plugins indicate they are local.
Is SMATH constantly connected to a server somewhere?
Thanks
Reg

Usually SMath performs a connection to internet:
If you want you can monitor the connections with Fiddler for example.
- while checking for updates at startup (unless "don't check for updates" is flagged);
- if you open the extensions manager;
- checking for account/license information (I don't know if "at once" or there is a frequency set);
- if some plugin requires it (Currency Units f.e. requires a connection to the ECB site to update the exchange rates).
If you want you can monitor the connections with Fiddler for example.
If you like my plugins please consider to support the program buying a license; for personal contributions to me: paypal.me/dcprojects
